A typical week in the fight against Covid 19

A typical week? NOT a typical week really in these very ‘untypical’ times. Feeling proud of myself as I divide my time between being the Managing Director of Child Matters, lead first aid trainer, volunteering on the COVID 19 vaccination programme and carrying out COVID swabs for a film and media company. Here are some of my highlights in my most recent fight against the pandemic.

DAY 1 –VACCINATION PROGRAMME

Early starts and a beautiful sunrise. Shifts at Marlow’s Globe Park vaccination centre start early so I’m up at the crack of dawn for a sunrise run with fellow running friends.

Where a lovely lady lets me take her picture mid jab. She didn’t even flinch! And is she smiling under that mask? Sixty COVID vaccines done…hundreds still to go.

A proud moment with Olivier Picard, Director of Newdays Pharmacy Ltd and founder of Globe Park Vaccination Centre. Not only have I trained to be a vaccinator which involves many online training modules, I have delivered the Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis training to a large number of my fellow colleagues and volunteers. This training ensures that our patients are in the safest place to receive their vaccines. 😊

DAY 2 – RAPID RESPONSE TESTING TEAM

Ooo, I get to work with the stars? No, this is my ID pass as I’m about to do Rapid Response COVID tests for film and media staff. It’s taking me to film & TV sets, prop houses, set building sites, superstars homes, here there and everywhere. I’ll have to put my film career on hold for now.

Wow, great views touring London and todays jobs start early near the O2 arena. No grand concert today and definitely not as glamorous as it looks. Just setting up outside on a picnic bench taking rapid COVID swabs and temperature checks giving the crew the go ahead before they are allowed to work, queues growing as people arrive. Clock watching as tests develop in the windy conditions proves a challenge!

DAY 3 – MORE SWABBING.

Now I’m lady of the Manor? Ha ha. Entering the beautiful Ditton Manor for more swabbing. At least it’s not a car park bench today.

DAY 4 – PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID TRAINING

Back to my day job, paediatric first aid training for nursery staff. It’s great to be outside with a lovely bunch of students in the sun. Well ventilated, all masked up, gloved and 2 metres apart. Everyone plays their part to stay COVID secure.

DAY 5 – ANOTHER DAY’S TRAINING

A bit further afield, in an early year setting, once again in the sun.

Everyone has their own manikin to practise on. Now I know why my muscles are aching. They don’t make’n skinny and light.

DAY 6 – END OF A BUSY WEEK PLAYING MUM.

Ahhh. My favourite job of all. Mum to these three beauties – their future is that what my week is all about. Let’s not forget the endless packed lunches, clubs, school runs, meals and ‘MUM’ we manage. Cheeky monkeys pretending to help mum drink the much needed drinks by the river.
